Proctor's Parks

Proctor's continuing mission to sample the parks of the nation.

In Spanish

Hereford Skatepark, Hereford

What's there?: Concrete park with pool, banks, steps and slide rails all over the shop.

Proctor's verdict: Nice. The surface is a bit slippy and the pool is as tight as a gnat's chuff but there's loads to do. Smells of shit.

Chilwell, Nottingham

What's there?: Metal mini ramp, funbox and big quarter pipe.

Proctor's verdict: The tarmac surface is a rough as a bear's arse and the metal slippy. There's never anyone there so great for a quiet skate (until your wheels wear out).

Sandpits, Ludlow

What's there?: Concrete park, with (shock horror) curved banks and a few slide rails.

Proctor's verdict: I like it. Concrete is just right and lots of nice lines. The banks and slide rails seem to be set up for skating rather than wheelybooters so spot on. Set in the well-to-do Ludlow area of Sandpits its great for a Sunday morning skate.

Central Park, Plymouth

What's there?: Concrete park with a bowl plently of banks and funboxes.

Proctor's verdict: Nice little park. The bowl has very little flat and is circular so is great for carving. There is also a metal mini like the one in Tenbury but why bother when this is next door. If you're in Plymouth check it out but make sure you only wear one iPod earphone to fit in with the locals.

Perdiswell, Worcester

§

What's there?: Big concrete park. Bowl, loads of quarter pipes, fun boxes etc.

Proctor's verdict: Great park. The bowl is a little mellow so it is difficult to carve and the coping doesn't stick out enough. It is great fun though and on hot days it is full of girls (over 18 it think) wearing very little.

(NOW GONE) Rampage, Worcester

What's there?: Indoor park, mini, various banks funboxes and usually Phanom.

Proctor's verdict: Its ok. It is usually quite quiet but needs resurfacing and the toilets cleaning.

The Hook, Nottingham

What's there: Nice mini, 24' wide, 4.5' high with a 5' tombstone. Small street section with bank, quarter pipe, funbox and slide bar.

Proctor's verdict: I like it because the transistions on the mini remind me of my ramp and there's a kids play park next door with a fence around it so you can lock the kids in while you skate. Best of all it is called The Hook like "Hook and the Daggers"!

Bramhall, Stockport

What's there?: Mini Ramp, 24'wide, 4' and 5' high with elevator section between them.

Proctor's verdict: Nice little ramp. Elevator is a lot of fun. Needs a new surface mind you, as Jonny Rad would say "Watch out for the hole in the ramp!".

Combe, Oxfordshire

What's there?: Snake run down one side into a irregular bowl. There no lip so its carves and ollies only.

Proctor's verdict: Ripper! This is one of my all time fav spots and the first concrete bowl I skated as a boy. It is in the middle of nowhere and somehow missed out on the 70's cull of skateparks. Its not overally wife friendly but I love it. (Click image above for video of Proctor ripping up the bowl.)

Cleobury, The Shire (Now moved to different location but same old sh*t ramps)

What's there?: Driveway, fun box, quarterpipe.

Proctor's verdict: It better than nothing (just) but is a classic example of a council wasting money.

(NOW GONE) Epic, Birmingham

What's there?: Loads - Vert, Bowl, Street - all indoors.

Proctor's verdict: It's ok. Watch out for the step on one side of this pyramid. The areas a bit dodgy and there's no where for the kids unless they like rock climbing.

Fairhaven Park, Lytham

concrete jungle

Moz rips up the concrete park.

What's there?: Mini ramp couple of funboxes and a big flat and transitioned bank - all concrete.

Proctor's verdict: It's alright, too many nippers on them scooters things and there was a puddle.

Arnot Park, Nottingham

concrete heaven

What's there?: Look at the photo dude.

Proctor's verdict: Nice surface and coping. There's a duck pond and play park for the kids. Ripper!
